The Grand Uttar Pradesh Elections - The Ring Masters

With 404 legislative assembly seats, floating over a massive 202 million and above population, Uttar Pradesh's state legislative assembly elections are one massive carnival of Indian politics. Out of 545 'Lok-Sabha' (lower house) seats in Indian Parliament, U.P. calls for 80 of them, hence making it the center in the 'Ring of Indian Politics'. Current ruling party claimed massive 70+ seats out of 80 to clean sweep the floor of parliament. Here we will take a glimpse of the ring masters of this arena.

1.Akhilesh Yadav: The standing chief minister is one of the youngest chief ministers in India and hence subsequently gaining a trust of a lot of youths in the state. His infrastructural report card also has a few highlights like lucknow metro and Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Also there were free laptops and tablets distributed to students. Recent family debacle also helped Akhileh to wear an image of a revolutionary. Samajwadi Party also enjoys a very faithful support of Muslims in U.P., who makes 18 % of the total population.
But that was the one side of coin. 'Gundaraj' or people with influence creating menace in the society is almost synonymous with this government. There has been a numerous accounts of same over the past five years, which made it 'Gundo ki Sarkar'. In terms of development and education, no solid groundworks have been witnessed, let alone the fruits. To add a cherry on the top of Samajwadi party's headache, there recent family vibrations were way louder and were heard across all the news channels in the country.
 2. Mayawati: Ask anyone in U.P. if he knows about elephant, he will probably rub your face back with a question, "which one, mayawati's or the one found in dudhwa?", with a slight pinch of humor in it. The reason being that U.P. is still one of the most backward states in India with majority of population still living in villages and under poverty line. She has been a symbol of struggle and success of a scheduled cast girl, 'Dalit ki Beti'. For this reason she holds a very faithful sect of society as her loyal voters, those of which comprise overwhelming 21% of the state's population. Her dearness towards dalits and underprivileged makes her so popular and people call her sister, "Behanji".
However, downside of it is that you have to be a leader who is discriminating against the rest of the general population, which however was the case during her rule. She was termed as a self obsessed, power hungry, control freak of a chief minister. She was synonymous with large amount of money hoardings and corruption and was hugely infamous for selling of assembly seat tickets for crores. Not just that, during her tenure she constructed humongous parks with her statues in it, wasting thousands of crores.

These are not the only ring masters in the arena, There are national giants like BJP and Congress. also some small reginal parties like Rashtriya Lok Dal.
