Memorials Day - The Lost Initiative

"It's not about anything, but the man next to you, that matters the most when bullets start flying." - A Solider
Today is the Memorial Day. We honor those who laid their lives for us, fighting for a cause that freedom of the people back home should hold the highest importance and that no anti - social, terrorist or extremist force should endanger that. The gave the supreme sacrifice. There is nothing more one could offer to his country and its honor.

But, I think we as collective individuals, citizens, have failed those who have given their lives so that we can enjoy the freedom, could exercise our rights and showcase the empathy that is due. Maybe we lost our heroes in fights those were not ours. We lost them because the leaders whom we chose thought oil interests in gulf were more 'premium'  than the lives of our fallen.

Now one may argue that those fights were fought because we wanted to liberate locals their, but seriously, Are You Kidding Me? There are more people dying in African countries than the collective 'collateral damage' in both the Iraq wars. We wouldn't go and rescue them because there is no oil.

Every solider who died there, is the because of us. It is because we chose such leaders. We are ourselves degrading our ideals, the ideals on which this country was formed.
